Andy Hobbs is a lifelong Richmond resident, retired Vancouver Police Superintendent and current Richmond City Councillor with decades of experience in public safety, executive leadership and municipal governance.
After more than 35 years with the Vancouver Police Department, Andy retired as Superintendent, North Command, where he oversaw operations across half of Vancouver. He later served as Chief Officer of the Metro Vancouver Transit Police, leading organizational improvements that strengthened service delivery and accountability.
Andy has also volunteered with numerous community organizations, including Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, Tourism Richmond and the Richmond Community Foundation. Throughout his career and volunteer service, he has built strong partnerships with residents, businesses and community organizations.
First elected to Richmond City Council in 2021, Andy serves on several key committees, including Community Safety, Planning, and Finance & General Purposes. He is committed to responsible financial management, well-planned growth, community safety and improving housing options while protecting Richmond’s neighbourhoods.
Andy and his wife Lynn have called Richmond home for decades, where they raised their three children and now enjoy spending time with their growing family of grandchildren. Andy is seeking re-election to continue providing experienced, practical leadership focused on safety, responsible growth and maintaining Richmond as a great place to live, work and raise a family.
